About this project
The brief. Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, sits on an untouched stretch of dunes and white sand along the Sea of Cortez — one of only a handful of Reserve properties worldwide. When the resort set out to create a beach club worthy of that setting, it needed to be environmentally sensitive, deeply comfortable, and unmistakably of Baja. Ritz-Carlton partnered with California-based EDG Design, with MERCANTIL as the artisan furnishing and production partner.
The concept. The beach club had to disappear into its landscape rather than compete with it. Cabanas, fire pits and a mixology station were arranged to follow the dunes, with materials and silhouettes chosen to weather the marine environment gracefully.
Mexican craft at Reserve level. Every custom piece was produced with Mexican artisan workshops to hospitality specification — furniture that meets a five-star operator’s durability standards while carrying the hand of its maker. This is MERCANTIL’s core promise: one-of-a-kind pieces, produced at contract grade.
