Great hospitality design makes a guest feel the place they’ve traveled to. From our base between Todos Santos and Los Cabos — with offices in Mexico City and Miami — Hillary Kent designs and furnishes hotels, resorts, beach clubs, spas and restaurants across México and the United States, pairing five-star polish with the warmth of authentic Mexican craft.
Hillary’s hospitality credentials run deep: before founding her studio she held executive roles at textile and furniture companies serving leading hotel brands, and her recent work includes furnishing partnerships with the Ritz-Carlton Reserve Zadún, Four Seasons Cabo San Lucas and Chileno Bay Resort (Auberge). Through MERCANTIL, the studio designs and produces custom furniture, lighting and objects with Mexican artisans — pieces guests can’t find anywhere else, produced at hospitality scale and spec.
Some clients engage us for full interior design; others bring us in as a furnishing design, production and procurement partner alongside their architecture or design firm — the role we played with EDG Design at Zadún and Other World Design at The Well Spa. Either way, the studio manages design intent from concept through FF&E documentation, sampling and prototyping with artisan workshops, production quality control, freight and installation — one accountable team from first sketch to final walk-through, on an operator’s construction schedule.
Today’s luxury guest can tell when a hotel was furnished from a catalog. México’s craft traditions — celebrated in its Pueblos Mágicos, the “magical towns” that inspired our Four Seasons work — offer something no catalog can: pieces with the hand of their maker still visible, built from materials that belong to the landscape outside the window. Produced locally, they shorten supply chains and support the communities around each property. For hotel brands, that is differentiation guests can touch; for operators, it is durability engineered to contract specification. This is the intersection where the studio lives.
Ritz-Carlton Reserve Zadún — beach club (with EDG Design): an environmentally friendly beach club on the Sea of Cortez; cabanas, fire pits and a mixology station.
Four Seasons Cabo San Lucas — Adventure Center: authentic Mexican furnishings across four restaurants, rooftop, art gallery and retail.
The Well Spa, Chileno Bay Resort: full spa renovation procurement with THE WELL and Other World Design.
Both. We take on full-property interior design for boutique hotels as well as single environments — a beach club, restaurant, rooftop or spa — within larger resorts.
Yes. MERCANTIL, our production arm, designs and manufactures custom furniture with Mexican artisan workshops to hospitality durability specifications, as we did across the Four Seasons Cabo San Lucas food-and-beverage spaces.
Regularly. We’ve partnered with EDG Design, Other World Design and brand teams at Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons and Auberge properties, integrating artisan-made pieces within established brand standards.
Los Cabos and Baja California Sur are home turf; we also serve Mexico City, Miami and destinations across México, the U.S. and the Caribbean.
