A well-designed home reads as though it could exist nowhere else. Hillary Kent delivers luxury residential interior design across Baja California Sur, Mexico City, Miami and destinations beyond: villas, beach houses, penthouses and second homes for clients who want the ease of resort living with the soul of a collected house. Our villa interior design and beach house interior design join disciplined planning with México’s material culture — every piece sourced or produced through MERCANTIL, the studio’s artisan sourcing arm.
Hillary trained where American residential luxury is codified — a BFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology and formative years under Victoria Hagan (Architectural Digest Top 100), designing residences across the United States and the Caribbean. Since moving to Baja in 2020, she has fused that discipline with the craft traditions of the peninsula.
Our clients asked for Paros, Greece with a Baja blend — an easy luxury. Every piece of furniture and every material was made in Baja, a sustainability commitment that mattered to the owners. Three bedrooms, a guest casita, a rooftop oasis for sunsets and a full lap pool. Read the Paros House case study →

Discovery first — the site, the architecture, how you actually live. Concept and budget alignment follow, then design development while MERCANTIL’s workshops sample and prototype the custom pieces. Production runs during construction; installation and styling happen in a single choreographed window, so you walk into a finished home rather than a punch list. Most of our residential clients build in Baja while living in the United States or Canada — the studio manages everything on the ground, in English and Spanish, with offices in Mexico City and Miami for meetings north and south.
A Hillary Kent home is built from things you can name. Terracotta floors and hand-finished plaster. Hand-embroidered Otomí textiles and woven accents. Local timber, volcanic stone and ceramics thrown by hand. Custom casework and furniture prototyped in nearby workshops through MERCANTIL, so a carpenter can visit the site and a plaster sample can dry in the same coastal air the house lives in. The result is warmth that no imported catalog can reproduce — and a home that genuinely belongs to its peninsula.
Constantly — most residential clients build in Baja while living elsewhere. The studio manages design, production and installation on the ground, with offices in Mexico City and Miami.
Yes, and the earlier the better — joining at plans stage lets interior architecture, lighting and furniture placement inform construction.
Produced through MERCANTIL’s artisan workshops, custom pieces are typically competitive with high-end retail — and made specifically for your rooms, climate and story.
